I needed a little more information. By finding out that the bookends are 7 inches high and are incised with the name of the company, L.V. Aronson, and the date 1924, I was able to research the company. I could not tell from the picture if these art deco bookends were bronze or bronze-clad. Bronze, which is an alloy of copper, tin and zinc, would make the bookends rarer and more valuable. I determined these are bronze-plated.
Instead of using bronze, companies often made bronze-plated bookends. Plaster of paris or a metal base was poured into a mold and later a layer of bronze was applied. It is hard to tell the difference from a photograph. Since the bronze layer is thin, chipping can occur or even a corner will get knocked off and then identification is easy.
