History of the Menorah Temple

Full Description:

In April 1949, a group of Miami Beach residents founded a Conservative synagogue named The North Shore Jewish Center. The synagogue was small, with only a handful of families, and met in the store fronts of Normandy Island. Under the leadership of Rabbi Mayer Abramowitz, this small community grew rapidly. After securing a space on 75th Street on Miami Beach, construction of the temple began. Soon, the completed synagogue became a citadel of Judaism and Jewish learning for the flourishing North Shore Jewish community. The North Shore Jewish Center changed its name to Temple Menorah in 1959. Since that time, the name Temple Menorah has been synonymous with Jewish leadership, education, and community on Miami Beach.
